Mount Pleasant Lane is based on what I heard from my bedroom window as a child. A sash window suspended in the exhibition space becomes a metaphor for the threshold between our inner and outer worlds and acting as a prism between past and present.
Embodying ideas of memory and how memory emerges into consciousness, and perhaps may also gradually dim again. The sound in the installation is the recording of the trains the artist used to hear passing at the bottom of the garden, and also the swishing and swooshing of cars on the road outside.
