2017-18 Swarm, a community and collaborative project with artist Kate Ogley commissioned by Falmouth University

Swarm was created with the help of local people, staff and students from the University campus. All took part in a series of bee making workshops; each person creating their own individual press-moulded clay bee. This took place at various events, festivals and fairs around Penryn.

The bees were then incorporated into a collective ceramic swarm sculpture. The Swarm sculpture was permanently installed in a designated willow tree on Penryn campus in October 2018 in commemoration of Penryns notable and longstanding connection with educational institutions.

Swarm is inspired by a dream. In 1265 the Bishop of Exeter, Walter Bronescombe, was told in a dream by the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Becket, to found a college in Penryn on the site of a large willow tree that contained a swarm of bees. Glasney College was built very close to what is today Falmouth University and stood for 300 years. The College was a highly regarded place of study and creativity and produced the earliest works of Cornish literature.

2014 Sound Art Workshops in collaboration with sound installation artist Timothy Crowley commissioned by Feast. Part of Embedded Event at Enys Gardens in Penryn co-curated and project managed by myself and Timothy Crowley.

A fun and innovative introduction to Sound Art for people of all ages; artists and non-artists including those with profound learning disabilities and their carers. Participants spent the day inventing, creating and playing with new sounding objects created from a collection of found objects, parts of instruments and recycled materials. Each participant took part in collective improvisations and contributed to a generative sound composition that evolved throughout the workshop and culminated in a collective work.
